Fans disappointed as only two new Legendary skins are released, but 2022 will bring a lot more

Even though only two Legendary skins were released for 2022’s Lunar New Year event, inciting a slew of fans to be disappointed with the low amount of new skins, there is hope for the rest of the year: a spokesperson from the Skins team in Overwatch development told Dot Esports that “We understand that this year’s Lunar New Year event doesn’t have the number of Legendary skins as previous events. The Skins team is hard at work—with more Legendary Skins planned in 2022 than any year prior. We’ll share more with players on this topic throughout the year.” So, it is not all lost, as the expectations for a year with more skins than any other year prior are set - whether this refers to Overwatch League skins or simply more releases throughout the year, we don’t know, but there is definitely something to look forward to.

It is Call of Duty season as the CoD League and College CoD start!

The Call of Duty League is warming up as the 2022 Kickoff Classic had a total of 79,753 peak viewers, according to EsportsCharts. While the entire day attracted tons of viewership, the most watched game of the day was LAThieves vs OpTicTexas, which came down to the wire. However, even though the numbers are good, it is not all great news, as this was a 24 percent decrease in average viewership in comparison to last year’s Kickoff Classic, which also saw a 34 percent decrease in peak viewership.

In addition, if you are a college esports athlete, have a favorite collegiate team that you would like to cheer on, or simply enjoy watching Call of Duty matches, then you won’t want to miss the new Call of Duty College Season as well. With a total of 14 teams in the pool, this season has a record-breaking number of teams in the line-up, the season promises to be incredibly intense and enjoyable.

Blizzard is recruiting to help develop a new survival game

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that they are recruiting for the development of a new survival game, set in an all-new universe. With titles such as World of Warcraft, Overwatch and Starcraft under their belt, the stellar videogame company is aspiring to “journey to a whole new universe, home to a brand-new survival game for PC and console, full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived.” Although no release date has been set, the expectations are set that it will not be released for a long time.

With plenty of open positions to apply for, including artists, designers, and software engineers, there is no shortage of people who would love to work for one of the major gaming companies. However, with the recent investigations and allegations against Activision Blizzard, it may be best to consider the situation before going all-in to work on the new game they are developing.
