Valve has cancelled the first Dota Pro Winter Major of 2022

Although the first Winter Tour of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021-2022 season was set to be played soon, Valve have decided to cancel the tournament citing the spread of new COVID-19 variants as the reason. The company posted that “While hopes were high that we could host an international LAN event, the discovery and spread of new strains of COVID-19 and the resulting increase of travel restrictions has made it unfeasible for all qualified teams to gather for a LAN tournament.” Then, the company goes on to clarify that the plans for Major 2 and 3 are still afoot, although they mention that they will further evaluate the situation in the future. The points of Major 1 will be distributed among the top teams of Major 2 and Major 3 in an attempt to keep the balance of points the same.

Riot Games is investigating The CEO of TSM, Andy “Reginald” Dinh, for alleged bullying and abuse

In a statement to WIRED, Riot Games has said that they are investigating allegations made about the CEO/owner of TSM. Among other statements, a representative from Riot said that  “As the league operator, we have engaged the law firm of O'Melveny & Myers LLP to conduct an independent investigation into claims of misconduct made against the leader of this team, in accordance with standard league process.” Among many anonymous allegations and claims about Dinh’s behaviour and how the organization is “dominated by a culture of fear”, one in particular stands out: a statement from top League of Legends player and former TSM member Yiliang “Peter” Peng, better known as Doublelift, who, during a stream on Twitch, said that “He’s like a bully who gets away with being a bad person because he’s powerful, because people are afraid to stand up to him. I’m sick of somebody who’s basically just a bully getting away with it because it’s in everyone’s best interest to not get in his way.”
