Doc Haskell Wins 2021 Collegiate Ambassador

The 2021 Esports Awards has come and passed, and several categories were awarded across the span of the event. According to The Esports Awards website, “The Esports Collegiate Ambassador Award honors an individual that has significantly contributed to the world of collegiate esports.” This year's Collegiate Ambassador award was given to Chris “Doc” Haskell. Haskell is the Head Coach of Esports for Boise State University, and is no stranger to being recognized for his work. In 2020, he was awarded Coach of The Year from Esports Coaches and Directors, and Director of the year from the National Association of Collegiate Esports.

Team Liquid Picks Up Bjergsen for 2022

After leaving TSM, the world was left shrouded in mystery about where Bjergsen, the veteran mid laner, would end up. Team Liquid has quickly put an end to speculation by announcing that he would be joining their roster for the LCS 2022 season. Last season, Bjergsen was a coach for TSM, but has opted to leave the organization to come back to professional play. LCS will see a Team Liquid Bjergsen premiere on January 14, 2021, for the Lock-in tournament.

OpTic Halo Wins Halo Infinite Championship

Halo has a long and storied legacy in the world of esports. With the release of Halo Infinite, the first person shooter is making a comeback. OpTic won the championship after a heartbreaking loss at the qualifiers. After a hard fought battle through the losers bracket, they were able to make it to the grand finals to face Cloud9, the same team that sent them to the losers bracket in the first place. This win marks progress for Halo esports, and it might just be a breath of fresh air into the lungs of the esport.

New Champions 2021 Skin Bundle in VALORANT

The VCT Champions event is just around the corner, taking place from December 1- December 12. In celebration of this inaugural VALORANT event, there is a new Champions 2021 skin bundle up for grabs in the store with a twist. From now until the end of the Champions event, half of the proceeds will be given to the participating teams. This one of a kind bundle also won’t ever return to the store or Night.Market, so it’s best to pick them up while you still can.

Pokimane Unveils $100k Esports Scholarship

AVGL and Pokimane want to give college students more opportunities to explore esports at the collegiate level. They’ve partnered up to donate $50,000 each to make an $100,000 scholarship that will help students with tuition. The scholarship will award 10 students $10,000 each, and applications are currently open from now to December 31.
